On Monday and Tuesday, ICSD administrators gathered for their annual retreat where they collaborated on learning targets and instructional leadership. Later, the group visited the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church as a community field study to discover its past and present!

Today is the final day of Project Innovation: ICSD's inclusive, project-based program where students engage in projects and case studies that answer complex questions or offer solutions to real-world problems.

This July, several middle school students spent the day at Cornell University learning about the intersection of technology, design, and emotion: "The students are part of the College Discovery Program (CDP), a long-term mentoring and academic support program run by the Ithaca Youth Bureau in partnership with the Ithaca City School District that aims to reduce achievement gaps and increase access to college education." #teamicsd #icsdproud

As part of Phase 2 of the Capital Project, the Belle Sherman Elementary Annex is getting a new basketball court, drainage work, playground lighting, and playground mulch improvements, and the sidewalk at the top of the stairs on Cornell Street is being replaced.

The ICSD hosted its annual Diversity Symposium of Thought Leaders: Cultivating Excellence and Equity earlier this week - two days of keynote speakers and breakout sessions on topics of equity and inclusion. Thank you speakers and participants for another incredible symposium!






There are many important developmental benefits to playing with puppets. They can improve language skills, foster social development, teach children about their emotions, encourage listening, and promote creativity - to name a few! Last week, our Songs and Stories summer program welcomed LilySilly Puppet Theater into our pre-k classes for a magical performance to enhance some of these skills and of course, to see the joy on our kids faces.





Join the Cayuga Heights Elementary community for three Playground Nights, co-hosted by CHES and the PTA. Join for one night or come to all three! All are welcome.


DeWitt Middle School is getting main entrance upgrades to improve security and create a welcome area!
