Here are some basic tips on how to increase Chromebook speeds and performance:

Update the Chromebook Operating System

  • Turn on your Chromebook

  • Log into the device

  • Connect your Chromebook to Wi-Fi

  • At the bottom right, select the time

  • Select Settings

  • At the bottom of the left panel, select About Chrome OS

  • Under "Google Chrome OS," you'll find which version of the Chrome operating system your Chromebook uses

  • Select Check for updates

  • If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically

Remove User Profiles

  • On the Chromebook sign-in screen, select the profile you want to remove

  • Next to the profile name, select the down arrow or three dots

  • Select Remove this user

  • In the box that appears, select Remove this user

  • If you do this for the assigned user, it will give them a clean slate and a fresh log-in

Remove Unneeded Extensions

  • Open Chrome

  • At the top right, click the puzzle piece

  • Go through the extensions and click the three dots on each extension you would like to remove

  • Click on Remove from Chrome
