March 19Statement in Support of Our Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander Community MembersIn the Ithaca City School District, we stand united in support for all of our students, staff and families who identify as Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander. We also condemn the recent murders of women of Asian ethnicity in Georgia, and the rise of anti-Asian violence throughout the United States. As a school community, we are committed to creating inclusive, culturally responsive and welcoming learning spaces, and resolve even more strongly to do so during this difficult time in our country. Educators in our school district are supporting students and staff who identify as Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander through a variety of means including learning experiences, safe space forums, individual check-ins, social-emotional supports, and more. |

We believe strongly that we have a responsibility to both protect the confidentiality of individuals who test positive, and to inform our communities about cases that pose a direct risk to them.
