In the Ithaca City School District, we will continue to require mask wearing indoors, with continued exceptions for eating, drinking, and mask breaks. When outdoors, individuals no longer need to be masked. Our community has done an exceptional job of containing the spread of COVID-19. Although our transmission rates are low, we still have many unvaccinated community members. The continuation of mask wearing in schools allows for our continued support of students and adults in our school buildings. More >>

Statement in Support of Our Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander Community Members

In the Ithaca City School District, we stand united in support for all of our students, staff and families who identify as Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander. We also condemn the recent murders of women of Asian ethnicity in Georgia, and the rise of anti-Asian violence throughout the United States. As a school community, we are committed to creating inclusive, culturally responsive and welcoming learning spaces, and resolve even more strongly to do so during this difficult time in our country. Educators in our school district are supporting students and staff who identify as Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander through a variety of means including learning experiences, safe space forums, individual check-ins, social-emotional supports, and more.
