Parents and guardians living in the Ithaca City School District who plan to send their children to kindergarten in September 2024 are invited to attend early orientation at their child’s assigned school on the dates listed below. This will be a time for students to spend some time in a kindergarten setting and interact with kindergarten teachers. The kindergarten teachers will get to know your child and introduce them to some kindergarten materials and activities.

Families will be scheduled to attend these days in groups of 6-8 for one-hour sessions. If you’re unsure which school your child’s assigned school is, please call (607) 274-2201.

If you haven't already registered your child for kindergarten in the Ithaca City School District, you may do so via our secure online portal. Details and instructions can be found on our registration page.

If you prefer to register your child in person, or do not have access to a computer or mobile device, you may make an appointment with the District Registrar by emailing icsdregistrar@icsd.k12.ny.us or calling (607) 274-2201. The Registrar’s office is located in the IHS Welcome Center, 1401 North Cayuga Street. 

Open Enrollment: If you would like to apply for your child to attend a different school than their home school, the application is due on June 1. Decisions will be made before the end of June, so attend your zoned home school's orientation and registration. 

Universal Pre-K: If your child attends a UPK program, you will need to register your child for kindergarten in the ICSD. 

ICSD Pre-K: If your child attends pre-k in the ICSD, they are already registered and you do not have to fill out additional paperwork.
