Update to Annual Notice Regarding Directory Information

On November 14, 2023, the Ithaca City School District Board of Education unanimously voted to add language to Policy 5500 - Protection of Student Records to include photographs and videos in the list of student directory information.

The inclusion of photographs and videos in the list of directory information means that families will no longer need to complete a separate media clearance form and can choose to opt out of any or all types of information designated as such by completing this online form or by notifying the district in writing. 

Since these changes are occurring mid-year, we are providing an additional opportunity to opt out of allowing the district to share any or all types of student directory information, including photos and videos, by March 30, 2024. If you have already completed a media release form for the 23-24 school year indicating that you DO NOT give the district permission to take photographs or video of your child, you do not need to complete this form at this time.

The New York State Department of Education (NYSED) requires that all school districts provide the following notices to parents and guardians on an annual basis. Some of the notices correspond to ICSD Board of Education policies, which can be viewed on BoardDocs. The notices are also available for download below.
