The Ithaca City School District (ICSD) has received a $100,000 donation establishing the Steve Brookhouse Technical Theater Fund. Managed by the Ithaca Public Education Initiative (IPEI) in partnership with the Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG), this new fund will enhance the technical theater capabilities at Ithaca High School’s Kulp Auditorium, benefiting performing arts classes and programs.
The anonymous gift honors Steve Brookhouse, a longtime advocate of technical theater whose commitment to excellence inspired generations of Ithaca performers and technicians. The funds will directly support upgrades to lighting, sound, and backstage equipment to enhance student learning and community performances.
“This generous donation means so much to us,” Daphne Shululu, Fine and Performing Arts Director said. “It's a powerful way to honor Steve Brookhouse and the lasting impact he continues to have on young people as they find their home and purpose backstage.”
Community members who wish to contribute to the Steve Brookhouse Technical Theater Fund may do so through the IPEI, which manages the fund on behalf of the district. Funding requests will be overseen by ICSD Fine and Performing Arts Director, Daphne Shululu, ensuring direct benefit to students and the community.
