Dr. Brown and IPD Chief Tyler Talk School Safety: The Ithaca City School District is committed to collaborating with the Ithaca Police Department (IPD) and other local law enforcement agencies on issues regarding school safety. DeWitt Ping Pong Club: How does a school build cross-cultural communication and community? At DeWitt Middle School, one way they do it is through ping pong! With the support of an IPEI Teacher Grant awarded to Carol Hoffman (ENL teacher and Ping Pong Club Advisor), DeWitt hosts a monthly ping pong party, open to all ICSD students, families, and community members. This week, as a result of the devastation from Hurricane Maria, our school received two students from Puerto Rico. Surviving and Thriving in the Agricultural Revolution: Students in the sixth grade at DeWitt Middle School studied the Agricultural Revolution in a new way this fall. Using a project-based learning approach, they examined the relationship between humans and their physical environment, and worked to share how the characteristics of regions in the Eastern Hemisphere affected the history of societies in that place.
