Registration

All students between 5 and 21 years of age have the right to a free public education. Children may not be refused admission because of race, color, creed, or national origin, sex, citizenship, handicapping condition, or immigration status.

Families who reside within the boundaries of the Ithaca City School District are required to register all school-age children, even if their children attend a private school or charter school, or if they homeschool their children. If your housing is not stable or if you are unsure of your residency status in the Ithaca City School District, please speak to the District Registrar.

If you are applying for one of our PreK programs in our elementary school locations, you may contact Early Childhood Programs at 607-274-2208. The registration process outlined below is for K-12 students only.

Registration Process

To begin registering your child/ren in the Ithaca City School District, we offer a secure online portal that will help expedite the process. If you would rather register in person or do not have access to a computer, you may visit the Office of the District Registrar (located in the IHS Welcome Center at 1401 N. Cayuga Street, Ithaca) between the hours of 8 AM and 2:30 PM Monday through Friday (July and August hours are 8 AM to 1 PM Monday through Friday). For assistance with the registration process, you may email icsdregistrar@icsd.k12.ny.us or call 607-274-2201.

Use the links below to access and complete all of the information for each student you are registering. This online registration process is not smartphone compatible.

NOTE: We ask that you physically reside within the Ithaca City School District BEFORE you begin the online registration process. Once you begin the registration process, you have 30 calendar days to complete it for each child. If you fail to complete the registration(s) within 30 calendar days of beginning, the forms will be deleted and you will have to start from the beginning.

After completing the district registration process, the Registrar will contact you to verify the information and assign a school. An appointment will be made by the school for screening, scheduling, and classroom placement. If you have questions, please contact your child’s school.

Our online registration system is for K-12 students only. If you are applying for one of our PreK programs in our elementary school locations, you may contact Early Childhood Programs at 607-274-2208.
