Indoor Track & Field state championship participants

Members of the Little Red Indoor Track & Field and Boys Swimming & Diving teams will be representing Ithaca at state championships this weekend.

Five members of Ithaca’s Indoor Track & Field team will be competing in the upcoming state meet after impressive performances at sectionals last month. Seniors Silas Richardson and Forrest Kingsley were Section IV Champions in the 1000-meter and 600-meter, respectively. Richardson was also runner-up in the 1600-meter. The three other athletes who placed at sectionals and are headed to states are junior Elodie Fey (2nd place, high jump), junior Moss Dengler (2nd place, pole vault), and freshman Everett Shaw (3rd place, 1600-meter).

The Little Red Boys Swimming & Diving team will also be sending five of their scholar-athletes to state championships this weekend. The 200 medley relay is currently seeded 21st and will be looking to drop a full second or more in order to place in the top 18. The team consists of Xuyan Dong (backstroke) and David Guan (breaststroke), both seniors and captains, as well as junior Ryan Bascom (freestyle) and sophomore Spencer Hwang-Geddes (butterfly). The alternate is the team’s third captain, senior Finn Buckley. Xuyan will also be competing in the 100-meter backstroke. He is currently seeded 43rd and will be swimming to find a place in the finals.
