Positive Student Case of COVID-19 at Cayuga Heights Elementary School

November 2, 2021

Dear Cayuga Heights Elementary School Community,

The Tompkins County Health Department (TCHD) has confirmed 1 positive student case of COVID-19 at Cayuga Heights Elementary School. A different county health department was handling this case, and recently notified the TCHD of this positive. All quarantine and isolation dates have since passed, but we are still notifying the community.

As always, monitor yourselves and your children for symptoms, as no one should be coming to any ICSD campus with the following symptoms:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

For information on when staff and students may return after experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, see our Protocol for Staff Returning to Work and Protocol for Students Returning to School.

For more information about contact tracing and the ICSD’s role in supporting those efforts, please visit our website. Take care and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Luvelle Brown
Superintendent
