ICSD Community Letter - February 12, 2021

Greetings, ICSD Staff, Students, and Families,

With the upcoming President's Day holiday and Winter Recess, we have a valuable opportunity for respite and reflection. We all continue to address the significant challenges caused by a global pandemic. However, there are signs of hope for our school community. I have been encouraged by:

  • the prioritization of our educators for COVID-19 vaccination,
  • educators plans and implementation for new and multiple teaching and learning modalities,
  • our celebration of Black Lives Matter at School alongside our ongoing exploration of anti-racist and inclusive policies and practices, and
  • many other examples of resilience, dedication and innovation.

While enjoying the time away from our instructional buildings and programs, I ask that we do so with caution and awareness. Quarantine requirements are still in place if leaving New York State and traveling beyond neighboring states. Please read New York State’s travel guidelines

The following chart provides a visual representation of the requirements for your reference:

Upon arrival to New York State, quarantine (stay in your home) and obtain another COVID-19 test on Day 4

Additionally, on Sunday, February 21st and 28th, we will host a series of Community Conversations to share information and answer questions on various topics.
  • Sunday, February 21st @ 7pm - Mental Health and Well Being

  • Sunday, February 21st @ 8pm - Conversation with Dr. Luvelle Brown, facilitated by Meryl Phillips, Executive Director Village at Ithaca

  • Sunday, February 28th @ 7pm - Public Health and Infection Control

I am honored to serve our learners and appreciate every collective and individual effort to keep our community as safe as possible.
