Why make a district-wide Black Lives Matter at School mural?
|
Historically, in our country and in Ithaca, Black students and their culture, rich history, and societal experiences have been marginalized in the educational process, as reflected in the ICSD Equity Report Card.
Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action, Year of Purpose, Lifetime of Practice is an opportunity to provide learning experiences to develop relationships that embrace differences, examine biases, and advocate for justice.
These relationships will help us develop a more caring and thoughtful school district. We hope that the mural will be a reflection of an authentic process to build bridges, provide healing and address racism. |
