Letter to the Community Regarding the Events of January 6, 2021
Today’s events have compelled me to write to assure you that our school district will be open and ready tomorrow in person and online. We understand that folks may bring to our learning spaces a sense of fear, a sense of frustration, a sense of anger, and/or many other emotions due to events in Washington, DC and elsewhere.
This wonderful school community includes many perspectives, lived experiences and backgrounds. Our schools will create a shared space in which we will process, share emotions, and come together to have peaceful and constructive dialogue.
We will love each other. In the coming days, our educators will attend to the emotional needs of our students while continuing to engage them in valuable learning experiences. If needed, schools will be providing contact details for available support services. Please refer to our website for additional resources. School district staff are also encouraged to reach out to their building and department leaders, Employee Assistance Program, and one another to ensure that our wellness is intact.
We are monitoring the situation closely, and will communicate as needed.
