Ithaca High School to Continue Distance Learning Through November 6
October 22, 2020
Dear Ithaca High School Community,
I appreciate your swift and student-centered response to our transition to distance learning yesterday. We continue to provide all necessary contact information to the Tompkins County Health Department (TCHD) as they engage in contact tracing of the community members who tested positive. The TCHD is in the process of calling all individuals who are determined to be close contacts.
We have learned that there is a significant number of students and staff who are close contacts and will need to quarantine. Therefore, Ithaca High School will continue full distance learning for all students through Friday, November 6, 2020. In-person IHS Gold Cohort students will return to campus on Monday, November 9, 2020, and in-person IHS Red Cohort students will return on Thursday, November 12, 2020.
Free grab-and-go meals (breakfast and lunch) are served daily at each school for students engaged in distance learning. Meals are available for pickup Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at our elementary schools, middle schools, LACS, West Village Apartments, and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ithaca High School. Masks are required during meal pickup. Please fill out this form or call the Child Nutrition Office at (607) 274-2302 if you need meals delivered to your home.
Now more than ever, it is important to adhere to recommended health and safety practices. Please make sure to take the following precautions: wash your hands, wear face coverings, keep six feet of space/distance from others, cover your cough/sneeze, and stay home when feeling ill. Our collective attention to these habits will help keep our community healthy and help us return to in-person learning.
Thank you again for your tremendous patience, care and commitment.
