Staff Daily COVID-19 Health Screening

In conjunction with Cayuga Health, we have developed a daily COVID-19 health screening website for employees to easily confirm, each day, that they are symptom-free, have not recently tested positive for or been exposed to someone with COVID-19, and have not traveled internationally or from a state on the Travel Advisory list. Below you will find instructions for completing the daily screening, as well as answers to frequently asked questions

All employees must complete the daily health screening before reporting to any ICSD building. Click here for more information on what to do if you screen red>>

Step 1: Enter the Screening Website
  • On your initial visit, go to and enter your ICSD email address, then input the verification code that's sent to your inbox. If the system doesn't recognize your email address, please contact the IT Help Desk
  • After the first time you sign in, you will receive a daily reminder email with a unique link to complete the screening.
Step 2: Complete the Screening
  • Once you have entered the daily health screening website, you are required to answer a series of questions. It is important that you carefully and honestly answer each of the questions as they appear on the screen.
  • If you cannot complete the daily health screening online, you may call Cayuga Health’s Call Center at 607-319-5800. Call Center staff will be able to assist you with completing the daily screening over the phone. The Call Center is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Step 3: Review Status
  • After you answer all the required questions, the site will direct you to your status page. You will also receive an email confirmation.
Step 4: Schedule Telehealth Appointment (optional)
  • Employees who "screen red" have the option of scheduling a telemedicine appointment with a Cayuga Health provider.
  • On the status page, click on the Register button. You will be directed to enter your health insurance information and complete the consent form.
  • Select a date and time for your telehealth appointment. It’s advised that you select the next available appointment.
  • Once you complete your booking, you will receive a confirmation email with the details of your appointment, including a Zoom meeting link (click here to view the Zoom Telemedicine Technology Instructions).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to complete the daily health screening?
As part of New York State’s school reopening requirements, districts must implement mandatory daily health screenings of all employees and students in order to maintain the health and safety of all.
Who needs to complete the daily health screening?
All faculty and staff are required to complete the daily health screening each day before arriving at their building. Substitutes are also required to complete the screening on any day they are reporting for work.
How will my employer know I’m clear to come to work?
Once you complete the daily screening process, you will receive a confirmation that you are clear to be on district grounds. Your direct supervisor, such as your building principal(s) or department director, and certain other district administrators will have access to the results of your daily screening.
On what days should I be completing the daily health screening?
Complete the daily health screening every day you are to be on district grounds. On the days you are not reporting to work in person (including when you are working from home or taking personal/sick/vacation time), you do not need to complete the daily health screening.
What happens if I do not complete the daily health screening?
If you do not complete the daily health screening, you are not authorized to report to any district building that day.
I don’t have internet access at home and I do not have a smartphone, so I can’t complete the daily health screening prior to coming to work each day. What should I do?
If you cannot complete the daily health screening online, you may call Cayuga Health’s Call Center at 607-319-5800. Call Center staff will be able to assist you with completing the daily screening over the phone. The Call Center is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What happens if I “screen red” during the daily screening?
If you “screen red” on the daily COVID-19 health screening, DO NOT COME TO WORK. “Call in sick” using normal protocols and follow the “next steps” outlined here: What To Do If You "Screen Red"
When will I be able to return to work/school?
If you screen red due to having COVID-19 related symptoms and schedule a telemedicine appointment, your Cayuga Health provider, following all Department of Health and Department of Education guidelines, will provide you with a return to work date. For all other instances, please refer to the ICSD’s Protocol for Staff Returning to Work.
What are the benefits of scheduling an appointment with Cayuga Health? Can I call my primary care physician instead?
We have partnered with Cayuga Health to administer telemedicine visits for the daily health screening. Although the appointments are not mandatory, the ability to connect the daily health screening application to Cayuga Health’s scheduling process will help to ensure that any individual who may be at risk for having COVID-19 receives guidance from a health care professional as quickly as possible. Once cleared by a Cayuga Health clinician, you will receive a confirmation from Cayuga Health that you are cleared to return to work. If you are not cleared, Cayuga Health will provide guidance on in-person testing options.
I don’t live in Ithaca; can I still schedule a telemedicine visit through Cayuga Health?
Cayuga Health will accommodate a telemedicine visit regardless of where you live.
If I need to contact Cayuga Health, will I be charged for that consultation?
As part of that scheduling process, Cayuga Health will ask for your insurance information, so that your insurance can be billed. If you are on the ICSD employer-based health insurance plan, all copays for COVID-19 related telemedicine visits will be covered. If you are not on the ICSD health plan, you may be subject to any co-pays or co-insurance costs. Many insurance companies are currently waiving co-pays or co-insurance costs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Contact your insurance company to determine your specific coverage. If you don’t have insurance, you can call an insurance enroller at 607-273-8686.
I made a mistake on one of my answers and now I have a “red” status and I am told to not come into work. What should I do?
Only health professionals and district supervisors have the authority to clear a “red” status to a “green” status. Follow the instructions on the “red” status notification to schedule a telemedicine visit, or contact your supervisor.
What should I do if the screening website is not working?
Make sure you are using a supported browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge. Internet Explorer 7 does not work. If you do not have one of the supported browsers, you can download one for free by clicking on the links above. If you are still having difficulty with the site, call Cayuga Health at 607-319-5800.
What should I do if the email I am putting in is not recognized?
The email linked to your account is what the school has on file. If you attempt to log on with your ICSD address and your email is not recognized, please contact the Technology Help Desk.
What should I do if I have not received the daily email reminder notification?
You will not receive the daily email reminder until after you use the system for the first time. If, after your first time using the system, you do not receive the daily email reminder, check your spam folder and your spam settings. If you still do not have a daily reminder email, go directly to the screening website and fill out the daily screening.
Why am I getting the same check-in status from yesterday?
The check-in status resets at 8 p.m. every night. If you complete the check-in after 8 p.m., your daily screening status is good until 8 p.m. the next day. This allows you to complete your check-in the night before you have to be at work.
Who has access to the data that is captured within the health screening?
The data collected in the daily health screening is not HIPAA protected. However, only Cayuga Health providers can see individual data and responses. Select administrators can see your red or green status and the aggregate number of employees who are cleared or flagged as red for follow-up. System administrators cannot see the individual answers to your questions.
If you choose to schedule a telemedicine visit with a Cayuga Health provider, your visit information is only accessible by Cayuga Health and is protected by HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements.
What system is used to do a telehealth visit?
Cayuga Health providers use Zoom to conduct telehealth visits. You will need to register for a free Zoom account if you do not have one. Instructions for doing so are attached.
