We're so excited to bring back the ICSD e-Insider, which we're repurposing to provide regular updates on Learning Forward ICSD, the district's three-year approach to academic and social-emotional learning! Click here to subscribe.

Corrections Corner:
  • Please note that the time listed for the South Hill Shines Community Celebration was incorrect. The correct date and time is November 18 at 8 AM. We hope to see you then!
  • Last year, the ICSD second-grade students at Northeast Elementary expressed a desire for a mural to creatively represent the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The ICSD Fine and Performing Arts Director, Daphne Shululu, connected Ithaca Murals with Northeast Elementary to orchestrate an open call for designs for two murals. While eleven professional muralists entered proposals, Northeast community members voted for Egypt Hagan's image of “youth coming together as one - through the power of learning, laughter, curiosity, and happiness." The second mural selected was from a Washington, D.C.-based collective of street artists, graffiti writers, and organizers called 411 Collective. During the first weekend of October, 411 Collective muralists, Shani Shih and Gilbert White, painted the foreground of the mural. They were joined by Principal Little, Associate Principal Humble, and Northeast community members for the finishing touches!
