Ithaca High School is one of the top high schools in the nation for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, according to a ranking by Newsweek.
The ranking, released earlier this month, lists the 500 high schools in the U.S. that best provide students experiences in STEM, while also preparing them for post-secondary success. Ithaca ranked at No. 48 overall – the second best ranking among schools in New York State. The only New York school to rank higher was the Bronx High School of Science.Newsweek determined its rankings using a points-based system developed by STEM.org, an educational research organization. The scoring system took into account a number of qualitative and quantitative data, collected from 2015 to 2019, related to eight weighted standards: STEM subjects, 21st century skills, content, diversity, socialization, technology, hands-on problem solving, and STEM career. Ithaca High School received a score of 96.39 out of 100.
