ICSD Students Compete in American Math Competition

In February, the Ithaca City School District (ICSD) had over 150 students compete in the challenging American Math Competition (AMC). The AMC 12 is open to all students, while the AMC 10 is only open to ninth and tenth graders, with eighth graders sometimes competing as well. Here are the winners:

AMC 10
First Place: Jeff Lantz
Second Place: Patrick Yuan
Third Place: Samuel Shvets

AMC 12
First Place (tied): Myeong Hak Lee and Vivek Myers
Second Place: Michael Zhao

Students who do especially well and reach the designated score set by the Math Association of America, go on to participate in a much harder, invitation-only competition with other schools from across the country.

This year we had five students qualify for the American Invitational Math Exam that took place on March 7:
  • Myeong Hak Lee
  • Vivek Myers
  • Michael Zhao
  • Woo Cheol Hyun
  • Justin Tan
Congratulations to our students on this wonderful accomplishment! We at ICSD are very proud of you!
