Community Service: IHS Key Club

Over the course of the year, Ithaca High School Key Club has had quite a few different community service opportunities. One of our first was Kozy Kids, where we pinned and sewed very large pieces of fabric in order to create blankets for kids and families in need! After, we spent club hours writing letters to our troops and did other service projects. We also raised money through a pizza fundraiser that is being donated to the Mental Health Association in Tompkins County. Key Club also held a carnation sale on Valentine's Day to raise money that we will donate to Kiva. More recently, Key Club members have spent club hours making dog toys out of old t-shirts for the SPCA and picking up trash near the school. Another recent service opportunity that we have is the Backpack Repack event with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, an event that we've attended twice already. At this event, we essentially work in a line and pack nonperishable food for those in need in our community. We are now holding a fundraiser at CTB at Collegetown to raise money for the Rescue Mission. Key Club members have volunteered at the IPEI Spelling Bee and events at the Sciencenter.
