ICSD Announces Administrative Appointments


The Ithaca City School District announced that Jeff Tomasik will be the new principal at Boynton Middle School. At its July 14th meeting, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of former Boynton Principal, Joe Dhara. Mr. Dhara is leaving the ICSD after accepting a central office role in the central New York area.

Jeff Tomasik is making the transition to Boynton Middle School after serving as principal of Northeast Elementary since August 2003. For two years preceding his Northeast appointment, Mr. Tomasik served as the Associate Principal of DeWitt Middle School, and as an ESL teacher at DeWitt Middle School during the 2000-2001 school year. His previous experience includes teaching positions in Fiarfax County, Virginia and in Washington State. Mr. Tomasik holds degrees from Rutgers University and the University of Virginia. 

"Jeff has been an exceptional leader at Northeast Elementary, and is now eager for a new challenge as instructional leader of Boynton Middle School," said Superintendent Luvelle Brown. 

Mr. Tomasik stated, "The time has come for me to use the leadership skills I have developed at Northeast Elementary in a new context. I am extremely grateful to have had the good fortune to work with an exceptional group of students, staff, and families at Northeast. I look forward to developing long-lasting ties with the Boynton community moving forward."

A nationwide search for the next principal at Northeast Elementary School will begin immediately. An informational and input gathering meeting with the Northeast community will be scheduled for the week of July 20th.

Previously, at its June 23rd meeting. The ICSD Board of Education finalized the district's Executive Team with the appointment of two internal candidates. Liddy Coyle and David Brown were appointed to fill vacant positions as Chief Academic Officer and Chief Administration Officer, respectively. They will join Superintendent Dr. Luvelle Brown, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Matt Landahl, Chief Operations Officer Amanda Verba, and Chief Human Capital Officer Robert Van Keuren on the Executive Team.
