To accommodate more instructional time, and due to staffing reductions, our library schedule has changed. It will be a two week rotating schedule in which classes will have library instruction with checkout for two weeks and then just book checkout for two weeks (or vice versa); for most classes this means students will have checkout on two different days depending on the week. Please check with your child's teacher for the dates of library instruction and checkout (calendars were given to each teacher with library dates mapped out up until February break).
You are welcome to check out books as well. We have books, ebooks, and books on CD.
Checkout Times for Families:
Annex: Mornings 7:40-8:00
Main Building: Afternoons 2:00-2:15
Belle Sherman Elementary School has two buildings with a library in each building. Our libraries include:
- Collections strong in multicultural areas
- Multiple copies of books for group use
- Clusters of computers with Internet access
- Online library catalogs
Children may use the libraries at any time convenient with their classroom program. Their instructional library program is integrated with their classroom program. Kindergarten and first grade students borrow books for one week; second to fifth grade students borrow books for two weeks.
Families can create accounts to check out books; please see Kaitlin Bryant if you are interested.
