Four ICSD Educators Named NYS Master Teachers

Four Ithaca City School District (ICSD) teachers were recently selected to join the New York State Master Teacher Program.

Carrie Brindisi, Arti Jewett and Mark Nelson, science teachers at Ithaca High School, and Shaun Errichiello, a math teacher at Lehman Alternative Community School, were among 214 educators statewide chosen to join the program this year. The recent selections bring the total number of New York State Master Educators at ICSD to 14.

The Master Teacher Program began in 2013 and supports about 900 outstanding educators in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Master Teachers excel in the classroom while also holding leadership roles in their departments and districts, participating in professional associations and advising STEM-related clubs and extracurricular activities.

Through their four-year participation in the program, Master Teachers receive a $15,000 annual stipend, engage in professional development opportunities, and work closely with pre-service and early career teachers to foster a supportive environment for the next generation of STEM teachers.
